Hart Paroled in Georke’s Haberdashery Robbery Case
Hart pled guilty to malicious mischief under a plea deal that spared jail time and a $500 fine after a year’s sentence would be waived. About $1,000 worth of silk shirts were stolen. Gorder, Hart’s attorney, called the case a persecuting campaign and hinted Hart’s link to Battle Creek robberies may exonerate him in Ida Grove. Deputy Lang disputed the narrative, citing bolt cutters and caps found in Hart’s car and questioning Gorder’s explanations. A. M. Duus remains ill but not seriously so.
