Baldes Convicted of Second Degree Murder in Orange City

In Sioux County Court at Orange City Math Baldes was found guilty of murder in the second degree for the beating of his wife on October 12. Barron Promoted to Higher Charge in Sioux City Diocese

Rev. Father James Patrick Barron, long serving in Iowa parishes, is promoted to dean and rector duties at St. Patrick's in Sheldon, replacing the Cherok ee pastor. Born in Providence RI, he was ordained in 1880 and has spent most of his ministry across Woodbury Monona Plymouth and Cherokee counties. He organized parishes and built church facilities in Danbury and Neptune and is noted as a trusted, capable leader within the Diocese of Sioux City. The move elevates him to a prominent role with the Sioux City diocese authorities.

Gospel Mission to Hold Salvation Services in Sioux City

Gospel Mission Services led by H. H. Booker, a railroad man from Sioux City, will conduct services at Gospel Mission on Hagle Street this weekend with Saturday night, Sunday afternoon, and Sunday night sessions. Booker's sermons aim to offer food for reflection and invite broad attendance amid a program featuring Joe Lerkins as a strong comic draw.

Miss Karen Marie Henricksen popular county teacher married MeGuy N Rames pothans of Sioux City at her parents home on Washington Street. Rev W G Moore of First Presbyterian officiated. They will reside with groom on Prospect Hill, plan future in Sioux City. Bride born in LeMars educated locally, graduated 1894 and taught two terms. Groom works at R Phillip store and owns a fine county farm. In law Mr and Mrs J N Kissinger Were guests. Many costly and useful presents given.

Inaugurated Big Sale Opens Despite Weather

The CG Grant & Co store opened its ten day sale on Wednesday with heavy customer turnout despite cold snow and a blizzard. Forty to fifty clerks stayed busy from morning to late night as bargains drew in many locals though country participation was limited by extreme weather. The doors closed early Thursday for a holiday, and the sale will run ten days with extensive transfer of goods from shelves to homes in nearby counties.

Henry Brothers Hog Sale At Morning Side Farm

Henry Brothers stage a Monday sale at Morning Side farm on December 4 offering thirty top sire hogs and twenty fine sons. The herd has won multiple prizes at Interstate fair Sioux City against state fair champions from Nebraska, Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa. Buyers from the northwest are expected as the sale proceeds in warm tents with conveyances available from the depot and a free lunch at noon.

Marriage of Joseph Lampert and Theresa Schlesser at St Joseph Struble

On Tuesday November 28 at St Joseph's church Struble the marriage united Joseph Lampert of Remsen township and Theresa Schlesser of Nigin township with Rev McNally officiating. The couple, attended by Susie Schlesser and Henry Lampert, received guests at a reception at the Schlesser home before beginning housekeeping on the groom's Remsen farm. Attending from LeMara were Mrs John Hentges and Miss Hentges, Mr and Mrs Otto G Berner, and the Erdman family.
