LeMars Board Meeting Deliberates Tax Request and Bond Approvals

In LeMars Iowa on August 15 1930 the board of supervisors met in special session chaired by Twogood with Zimmerman Altmann Miller and Timmins. They read minutes from August 6 and approved parts by motion. A request to remit taxes on money and credits for Marie Schmidt was rejected. Communications from Brittonsville and the band Chas De Groote with American Surety Co were approved. Bonds for contracts L 130 and L 280 with Massachusetts Bonding and Insurance Co were approved. The session adjourned to Monday August 18, 1990.

Local Neighbors Rally for Social and Visits in Seney

Grandma Braband Suffers Paralytic Stroke at LeMars Home

NEPTUNE grandma Braband formerly of this community and mother of Henry Braband suffered a paralytic stroke Sunday morning in her LeMars home. As the children gathered by her bedside Monday little hope was given for recovery. Other local notes include visits by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Speickmann in Leeds, announcements of Clarence Lang and Margaret Schwiesow’s forthcoming marriage, a bridal shower in the Wm Franzen home, a Perry-Liberty picnic at Potosia with Liberty winning the baseball game, visits by J. S. Bunch to Ed Braband in LeMars, Wm Hodgson and son’s trip to Wessington Springs, S. D., and Helen Kruse helping with housework for Mrs. Arthur Ideker.

School Equipment Upgraded Amid Community Events

Excellent additions to the school's equipment. The Teachers Association hosted substantial noon refreshments. Miss Florence Carey of Marcus visited the Kehrberg home and will teach near her Marcus home this year. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Austin of Leeds joined relatives in Sioux City for an all day outing with Will Danne's Sunday school class, enjoying rides and a large picnic.
