Plymouth County Supervisors Proceedings Report

The Plymouth County Board of Supervisors adjourned session reviews numerous bills for the county home, court house, welfare, and maintenance. It approves bank deposit limits for county funds, grants tax refunds, and records salaries, supplies, and road work with names of local officials and merchants.

Ovens Area Social Notes Include Bridal Shower and Visits

OYENS by Special Correspondent reports a week of social activity in Remsen and Oyens. Mrs. Jack Arens and daughter Therese visited in Remsen at the J. P. Arens home while shopping and calling guests from LeMars and nearby areas share family ties. A bridal shower for Miss Josie Ruppert of LeMars drew many town residents to the Columbus club hall with sister hostesses serving a luncheon. Local residents visiting relatives, including Mayrose, Homan, and Dreckman households, plus new hires at Ovens Lumber, mark a lively week of friend and family gatherings across Ovens, Remsen, and LeMars.

Rescuer Ira Levering Gains Overnight Fame

A former Ireton resident Ira Levering rescued a six month old from a burning home in Fall City Nebraska. He sustained burns during the rescue but the infant later died from smoke inhalation. The story spread to Omaha and Sioux City news centers and then to this region. Levering and his wife work for an Omaha firm and have roots in Maurice, Iowa.

Western Stanton Missionary Group Meet at Church

The Evan gelical Woman's Missionary Society and the Young People's Missionary Circle held a joint meeting at the church last Friday with about 75 attending. The program featured scripture readings, prayers, a quartet, a Jubilee Offering, and a play titled The Higher Choice. Refreshments followed, and notices for future meetings including May 2 at Mrs. R. C. Hodgson's home were given.

Stanton Resident George Prince Dies at Daughter’s Home

George Prince a longtime Stanton resident died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Albert Kaiser. The funeral was held Wednesday at the Kaiser home with burial in Stanton cemetery, as friends and relatives gathered in tribute. Mrs. A. W.
