Spring Music Festival at Franklin Clark and Central Schools

Carey Gymnasium hosted a Spring Festival Tuesday night featuring first to third grade pupils from Clark Franklin and Le Mars Central. The program included numbers from Peter Pan Cinderella and Alice In Wonderland with a mass chorus Where In the World But In America. Parents teachers and students attended representing the three schools and children were escorted to floor areas after the show.

State FFA to Convene at Cedar Rapids Convention

Le Mars Future Farmers of America chapter will send seventeen youth to the State FFA Convention in Cedar Rapids Iowa April 28 to 39 The parliamentary procedure team that won sub district and district contests advances to state level Members include David Hoffman Randall Jelken Kirk Klohs Phil Schoenrock Eugene Wolf and David Luken Le Mars will have two musicians David Bogernief trumpet state band and Richard Degner state chorus Randall Toel class of 1963 and Gerald Hodgson current FFA president will receive their Town State Farmers Degree Two freshmen greenhands David Klohs and Tom Holton will set up an exhibit on agricultural occupations in Le Mars area Official voting delegates are Pat Holton and Duane Boetger.

Le Mars Invites Track Queen Kris Johnson Named

Queen Kris Johnson of Le Mars Community High School chosen as track queen for the fourth annual Le Mars Invitational Track Meet. She is a LCHS senior, member of Sparkettes and Thespians, active in drama, FHA and Canine Comments, and will attend Veishea at Ames. The meet runs Tuesday April 26 at Westmarfield with field events at 4 p.m.

Fourth Invitational Track Meet May Be Held At Westmar Stadium

The fourth invitational track meet featuring LCHS is tentatively set for Tuesday April 26 at Westmar Stadium with Cherokee Riverside Hull Western Christian Leeds Maple Valley Manilla and Le Mars Community High School competing. Le Mars aims for second place as defending champion Cherokee is favored to win. Weather leg conditioning and depth in spring events limit the Bulldogs season impact.

Council Selects 7 by Josephine Hahn

The LCHS student council met on April 14 to elect carry over members for next year. Four juniors were elected: Dave Tone, Linda Mauer, Carlis Berkenpas, and Rachel Postuma. Three sophomores were elected: Denny Granquist, Ruth Trometer, and Jean Englebrecht.

Le Mars Invites Girls State Nominee Pat Murphy

LCHS junior Pat Murphy has been selected as a Hawkeye Girls State nominee to be held at Iowa State University. Four top junior girls were chosen for leadership, character, and health assessments and interviewed by the local American Legion Auxiliary.

Musicians To State Contest At Milford Iowa

Read aloud at Milford Iowa three groups from LCHS showcased at the Class A Large Group State Music Contest. The Bulldog concert band performed Concertino by Fritz Welke under Joe Brice with multiple solo passages. The a capella choir and girls glee club also performed, with pieces including Nightfall in Skye Summer Day and Sing Praises. The event drew competing schools and featured non partisan civic lessons with sponsorship by the American Legion Auxiliary.
