Oyens Rev Father Cleo J Ivis of Sioux City spoke at both masses at St Catherine’s church on Sunday in support of Catholic foreign missions where he serves as diocesan director His remarks on national and international affairs kept even weary parishioners awake during the sermon. Leo Schroeder bought a 1949 Chevrolet last week. The Oyens social club and Columbus club held a joint meeting at the Oyens hall Wednesday evening. The Oyens area has been soaked by three heavy rains in the past week and most fields remain too wet for corn planting. George Sheehan bought a 1940 Chevrolet coach. Mr and Mrs Nick Reistroffer and Mrs Joe Kemp visited last week with Mr and Mrs Tom Trautt in Adrian Minnesota. Mr and Mrs J Joanning and children of Wilmont Minnesota visited Thursday with Mr and Mrs Andy Niehus. Mr and Mrs Will Schnepf also visited.

A basket supper follows and a jitney supper will be served at the Melbourne Evangelical church May 3. A moving picture will cap the evening. Community attendees joined the county Federated clubs achievement day at LeMars last week.
