Miss Marie Nicolls of Muske gon visits Mrs. Ralph Lowe here Thursday. Mourning follows the death of Melvin Stevens of Smithland Iowa in an auto crash. Stevens lived here as a boy with Rev and Mrs C. E. Stevens and others recall their time. Local families from Sioux City visited over the weekend. The Woman's Missionary Society met at Mrs J M Kunath’s home with lunch after the meeting. Wesley Green of Sioux City visited relatives. J J Deegan is rebuilding a hog house on his farm north of Itown. John Osborn assists author appears in playground reports.
Mr and Mrs Jim Manning and family moved to LeMars this past week to make their home. Eldon Riter, of LeMars, is assistant manager at J C Penney Co. D M Bond district superintendent Sioux City will preach May 1. John Daugherty visited Orange City on Monday. Myrtle Hinde and R F Lowe visited the Hein rich home. The Bob Connor family moved in with Lizzie Connor. Wm Hawkins sold hogs on the Sioux City market this week. Mrs Arthur will visit Thomas SD to see her son in law and daughter the Chambers family.
A long list of Sunday and weekday visits across area homes includes N W Johnson guests in the A M Johnson home and multiple families visiting in Johnson, Vander Kamm, Karlsen, Witt, Marbach, Kallsen, Nielsen, Meins, Borchers, Plueger, and Miller homes. Also noted are Sioux City visits, church event, and a nursing nurse returning to Akron. The Friendship club met and Rev W E Smith served lunch.
Harwood Crocker of LeMars was named area director for the Baptist Young People's Unions of LeMars Iowa Holland, and Akron. The two day rally drew strong attendance as delegates praised the conference and sessions.
Washington the Man and the Capital, a Warner Bros Vitaphone two reel special, will be shown at the Royal Wednesday and Thursday in conjunction with No One Man. The film portrays George Washington with the endorsement of the U S Washington Bicentennial Commission. Directed by Arthur Hurley, the work stems from research by Lyon Mearson and Burnett Hershey and presents a portrait of the Father of Our Country.
A dramatic portrayal features Clarence Whitehill as General Washington in the Paramount role with the nine months nationwide celebration of the capital. The piece highlights his wartime feats first in war and the oath at peace, plus Major L Enfant and the plan for Washington to be the Beautiful capital of a mighty nation. Public figures and patriotic groups endorse the production in Washington.
The LeMars Iowa city council announces sealed bids by May 4 1932 8 p m for 7000 feet of dimension lumber 50 tons of bituminous coal printing stationery reports and legal notices and for general cement work including sidewalks crossings curbs gutters arches and culverts. A $100 certified check is required with cement bids. The city reserves the right to reject all bids.

Merle McHale and wife from Iowa City visited his uncle Jesse McHale. Merle and spouse then left for Portland Oregon Friday. Ed Dirks of Akron and Maurice Vernon with Ben Toel worked Friday. Ethel Williams of LeMars visited Brunsville several days last week. Lewie Albright and son Wesley left Friday for visits in Nebraska. Gerd Wilken and daughter Minnie shopped LeMars Friday. Frank Port and son Ross visited Brunsville Friday. Jack Popken of Sioux City visited Brunsville friends Saturday and Sunday.
Lincoln residents Mr and Mrs Ed Sdecker and daughter join others in Leeds to visit Fremont Idecker. Lawton supervisor Fred Barnes calls on Thursday to remove telephones ordered January 1. Lawton visitors include Stanley Cooper Harry Vermillon David, Chris Wiener Ern est Wiener and others. P D McNaughton family stop at John Goldsmith home in Leeds. Visits continue among Heimgartner Wiener Stahe homes and Lewie Wetrosky’s brother. Arthur Epling family spend Sunday with Chuck Davis in Sioux City.
P B Zimmerman announces a four year service plan protecting buyers against all service costs on the Monitor Top refrigerator. A $500,000 nationwide ad campaign supports the launch, with H F Pattison distributing in Le Mars. The plan follows decades of GE research and a history of extended warranties.
OYENS Mrs John Cronin was a Le Mars visitor on Wednesday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Charlies Kuster were Sunday visitors at the John Nilles home. Mrs John Meigs and daughter Martha were guests Sunday at the home of Mr and Mrs F J Groff in Remsen. Mr and Mrs James Kinney and family of Alton were recent visitors at the George Homan home. Miss Della Kuster weekend at Walter Meacham home in Sioux City. J W Kass a Sioux City business visitor Friday. Al Masuen and Lou Nagel visited in Omaha Nebraska. Mrs John Meis visited relatives in Sioux City Thursday. A card party sponsored by the Social club in the Columbus club rooms Sunday evening drew a large crowd. Prize tokens in 500 went to Mrs Math Ruba who tied with Mrs Mike Weber. low prize to Mrs Henry Scheidler of LeMars. Joe Rolfes won first prize in 500. low prize to Mike Weber. In pinochle prizes went to Mrs Wm Schnepf, Mrs Joe Majeres, Charles Kuster and Wm Schnepf. A charivari party for Mr and Mrs Ray Schroeder in Columbus club rooms Thursday evening. dancing formed the evening’s diversion.
John Dierckson served as Merrill caller Saturday. Mr and Mrs Geo Schnepf and children stayed with Mrs Francis Schnepf at Remsen on Sunday. Mr and Mrs Henry Harpenau of near Marcus visited relatives. Mrs Vincent Freyman of Omaha visited her mother Mrs John Strong and other kin. Mrs Isadore Lieb and Mrs Nick Reisdorfer joined Miss Anna Kemp for a trip to Adrian Minnesota.
Sunday visitors spent the day with Mr and Mrs Tom Trautt and family. Bartel Ruba Jr of Remsen underwent an operation at Sacred Heart hospital last week. A number from this vicinity attended the funeral services for John Grimes at Merrill on Wednesday afternoon.
