The funeral of the late George Rees drew a large crowd as Odd Fellows members led the service from the church to the cemetery. Attempted Loot of Merrill Bank Reported
A Wednesday night burglary attempt at Merrill Bank left a large back window smashed and tools inside the bank. Robbers hitched a team at a stockyard near the J P Bogen barn and may have been frightened away by nearby cattle loading in the early morning hours. no entry into the safe was made and the incident surfaced Thursday.

Woman Adjudged Insane Sent to Cherokee Asylum
Mrs John Quinland was declared insane by the insane commissioners after two months of inflammatory rheumatism and deteriorating mind. She will be sent to the Cherokee asylum for treatment. Her brother James Hines and husband John Quinland accompanied her to Cherokee, while her sister Mrs John Hines arrived from Denver and will stay briefly.

Dr George Rubel Is Operated On In Sioux City
Dr George Rubel of Allen Nebraska son of Mr and Mrs Jacob Rubel living north of LeMars was seriously sick with an abscess. His brother Harry Rubel studying medicine in Chicago urged hospital transfer. An abscess was removed with a rib fragment five inches long. Parents were with him in Sioux City and he is reported to be recovering and soon out.

Inspectors View Water Plant Boilers Dispute
Inspectors report on boilers bought by the Water and Light plant from Oil City Boiler Co at 3300, including a smoke stack. The plant paid 800 on receipt and installed them, but they failed to meet specifications, the company withholding payment. Oil City Boiler sued for 2400 in federal court at Sioux City, set for May 29. Plant seeks adjustment and a tested new boiler to handle expected heavy season work.
