Mrs Elmer Schuette of Doon visits at Mrs Anna Schuette’s home. Don Zimmerman now serves as a sergeant in the air force stationed in England. Mrs D W Elliott and Dennis ride to Sioux City Friday. D W Elliott and M J Elliott drive to Sioux City Saturday and return Sunday. Mrs Elliott visits sister Mrs Ray Smith and family.

William Lean departed for his home in Bellflower California after a visit with his mother Mrs Emily Lean who is not well and with Mrs Linda Kluter assisting in her care this week Miss Ellen White of Sheldon is mentioned in the note.
Mrs. C C Cooper and Mrs Earl Wells plus Keith left for Parker Md to visit Mr and Mrs Hal Van Water. Louise Klater bought R Fredericks property on Elm Street and will move in soon from the farm. Lila Sonicson plans to move to the north part of town. Guests included Mr and Mrs Jim Herweyer near Sioux Center and Mr and Mrs Bert Scheuten of Rock Valley. Hugo Wellnitz hosted Primus Bridge Club. cars were a diversion and light refreshments followed the play.
The Board of Supervisors met in an adjourned session with Chairman Schulte and Supervisors Grimses Brownlee Pratt and Bohlken. Theysigned a contract for Brownlee easement, appointed George Sturges as County Attorney with a $5000 bond, and approved minutes from March 27 1944. Bills from maintenance and construction funds were listed and paid, including salaries and various supplies for county offices and roads.
Union Cub Editor Joen Sheehan and staff report seniors and faculty joined juniors for a Navy themed banquet at the Mayfair hotel on Thursday April 6. The event included a turkey dinner, a Capitol theater motion picture, rain dampening mood yet guests enjoyed the evening.
Activities commencement and baccalaureate dates are noted with speakers from LeMars. The Plymouth county Tuberculosis association donated the book Huber the Tubers to the school. Classes study Russian, French, English and American history, science topics, rainbow optics, and the New Deal. Home Economics works on dressmaking and buttonholes while Senior Literature reads Lady of the Lake and English 19 discusses fiction.
