Wool is graded by fineness into seven grades then subdivided by fiber length and brightness. Unscoured fleeces of 3 8 and 14 blood prove worth more than fine wool, but after scouring the price favors fine wool. One pound of scoured fine wool yields twenty pounds of yarn. Wool from Iowa association is sold to Boston mills, the nation’s largest woolen center.

The LeMars High School spring music concert showcases 15 entries from Division One state contest qualifiers. Vocal and instrumental solos, small and large groups, and a concert band finale perform to raise funds for future contest trips including the national event in St. Paul. Tickets are 25 cents.
