German farmer William Kowalke dies at 81 in Lincoln township Iowa
Special Correspondence from Hungerford township reports William Kowalke died at his son Albert Kowalke home on April 6 1909 at age eighty one of old age. Born January 28 1828 in Germany he married Wilhelmine Binneboese December 24 1854. He emigrated to America in 1874 settling first in Joliet Illinois then Plymouth County Iowa. Surviving children include Albert Kowalke and Mrs Robert Heimgartner with three adopted children Augst Binnebeese Chas Binneboese and John Binneboese. Funeral held April 9 at the German Lutheran church in Lincoln township with many neighbors in attendance. He was a good neighbor and citizen mourned by a wide circle of friends.

Police report Tloppner was taken into custody after a relative in Ovens lent him $10 to buy a cow. En route to Sioux City he succumbed to drink, spent the money, and devised a holdup tale to cover failure to buy the cow or repay the funds.

Burial of Mrs. Sarah Gaynor at St. Pauls Episcopal
Mrs. Sarah Gaynor was buried from St Pauls Episcopal Church on Thursday April 15 at 2 30 officiated by Very Rev Ralph P Smith. Born February 1 1827 she was the daughter of a Methodist minister and at 21 married Christopher Gaynor. His death came four years ago near the same date as her own. The services were said to be beautiful and impressive with six sons serving as pallbearers and the chancel and casket covered with dignified arrangements.
