Mrs Mary Alfred born March 1859 near Shellsburg Wisconsin, died after five months sickness on Wednesday evening. She married Along T Alfred in 1879 and lived on his claim in Stanton township near Le Mars Iowa. Survived by four daughters Eva Dempster Neligh Ada Piney Bertha Wells Laura Buehler, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was active in First Methodist church and beloved neighbor and mother.
John F. Sullivan, 57, former Sioux City resident and Marcus pressman, died Saturday in Marcus. Born May 26, 1881 in LeMars, he moved to Sioux City at age 2 and back to Marcus 29 years ago. Funeral 9:30 am Monday at Holy Name church Marcus. burial there. Surviving: widow Pearl. three sons Joseph Lloyd Raymond, all Marcus. mother Mrs. C. E. Killian of Sioux City. sisters Mrs. Alex Reid Mildred Killian Sioux City and Mrs. John Beaver Denver. brothers Clarence Sullivan Francis Killian.
Ireton residents joint family visits and birthday observances marked a week of small town events. Rev Henry Eggink led Presbyterian services, George Sniders lost part of a finger in a farm accident, and Roy Dahl of Sioux City spoke at a booster club dinner. Local youths and visitors traveled to Sibley LeMars and Des Moines for Easter, while a near fire at the G L Houston farm prompted swift action by the fire department.
Maurice resident Al Jager died Monday afternoon after a brief illness. Born in Serberium in 1866 he emigrated to the United States in 1907 with his wife settling in Maurice. He served as janitor of the First Reformed church for 18 years and is survived by his wife son and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the First Reformed church with interment in Sherman township cemetery. Wallace Verburg and Katherine Schulte wed in St Joseph Missouri, with the groom’s family attending from nearby.
An auction advertises a large stock consignment for Wednesday April 19 starting at 1 PM. Expect steers heifers cows bulls calves fat hogs brood sows feeding pigs bolars and stags plus one good two year old bull. Come early for bidding.

The ceremony, attended by her sister Mrs. Walter Johnson, was at Christ Episcopal church at 1 p m. Rev C Hely Molony officiated. Mrs Mary Rich Lyon performed selections including Aubade and Venetian Love Song as Prelude and Mendelssohn’s wedding march closed the processional and recessional.
East Craig residents hosted a Sunday dinner at Amos Croon’s home for Mr. and Mrs. George Johnson Valencia Kiewell Mrs. Lawrence Baack Bud Herzberg and others. Guests included G. F. Hanstein Alvin Winterfeldt Hollis Noble Leland Fett Dale Noble and John Schmidt. Glenn Peebles is recovering from surgery at Hawarden hospital. Valencia Kiewel visited Fred Kuehn nearby near Merrill. Lorne Ross and son LeRoy of Westfield are visiting the Noble household this week.
Perry Center residents Mr. and Mrs. Oral Bonnes returned Sunday from Petaluma, Calif., where they spent the winter and plan to farm the Bonnes homestead this year. Friends report Tom Ely and Mrs. Ely touring California, noting a sunny trip with plans to visit San Francisco. Miss Mary Viehe vacationed with her parents, while Mrs. Joan Ferguson visits her daughter Mrs. Harry Dehl.
Families travel and relocate as a farm sale completes movements near Crofton Nebraska. Residents from Deh Omaha and nearby towns join relatives, visits, and dinners while students enjoy a four day break from Central School.
