Henry Hall has regained health and mobility after a period of illness. Albert Freyman and Steve Ker attended a relative’s funeral in Perry Oklahoma last week. Mrs John Dierckson is a patient at Sacred Heart Hospital. Mrs Elizabeth Salentine of Remsen visited relatives and friends here over the weekend. Mr Holder of Merrill assists Frank Holzman with spring farm work.
North Washington correspondent reports Mrs Walt Gerdes and daughter Leela visited Mrs Sam Diediker of Brunsville on Sunday. Several Brunsville residents attended the Mrs Sam Diediker birthday party Tuesday. Multiple Brunsville families hosted or visited through Sunday with house cleaning assistance and farm help noted.
Grant Center and nearby town readers report a Wednesday community sale at Le Mars, a corn and hog program at the Grant town center schoolhouse, and several Brunsville and Preston township callers. Shoppers include Ben Borchers, Billy Borchers, Herman Herren, George Miller, George Popken, Martin Johnson, Margaret Weyen, Hill Kruse, Pill Johnson, and Mrs. August Borchers with notes of birthday greetings. Edward Johnson plans move to Holstein with Elmer, and other local residents are noted visiting relatives and friends on Wednesday afternoon.
Mammentown residents receive treatments at Le Mars while callers like Charley Mammen Henry Lubben John Lubben and Bill Kruse frequent Le Mars and nearby towns. Craig Hawarden Brunsville and Preston residents shuttle for shopping work and church events amid a week of corn shelling and fellowship in Grant township and surrounding communities.
Struble and Noble families motored to Estherville for a few days with Mrs Noble's parents. Alberts family from Canton S D spent Sunday with Clarence and D E Alberts. Rev J B Greteman attended 40 hours of devotion in
Ruble and Klemme families hosted Sunday meals and visitors in area homes. The Preston township Lutheran church held a ladies aid luncheon on April 1. A truste es’ annual meeting occurred at the Center schoolhouse and four girls with eight boys were confirmed at the Preston church. Numerous Kallsen and Tapper family visits noted alongside town shoppers and birthday gatherings.
Preston Center residents hosted and visited families including the Borchers Frerichs and Helmrichs clans. A Wartburg College male chorus concert at St Johns Lutheran in Craig drew many locals from the area.
Oyens residents Mr and Mrs Charles Masuen and sons Al and Ray visited Sioux City Monday returning home with Lorraine who had worked there recent weeks. Miss Olivia Kramer returned to Monticello after visiting grandmother Mrs Margaret Peters. Banns of marriage for Magdalen Theisen and Joe Rolfes were published at St Catherine's Church.
Local notes report Seney residents visiting, traveling and health updates. Walter Woodhouse moved home to recover. Rev Metcalf conducted a quarterly conference. a three act comedy drama The Eighteen Car at Book is planned for April 17 with a large cast including Marian Rees and Art Berkenpas.
Mr Maberry longtime Congregational church leader resigns to assume duties at the First Methodist church in West Palm Beach Florida beginning June first He will direct the choir oversee the young peoples leagues and assist in Sunday school work. Local residents Jean Thornton and her sister Darlene visit family while Joy Harrington and Catharine Beaubien spend the weekend in the city. A well attended ladies meeting met at the Russell Waterbury home last Thursday afternoon. The next events are awaited.
The Thursday meeting at the O B Lilly home with Mrs Lilly as hostess. The Leonard Gant family will move to a large ranch near Platte South Dakota. Mrs Gant and the children stay until school ends. Miss Lucille Dennier remains ill at Merrill. Elsa Cassel substitutes in the primary room. Mrs Rosalyn Bunyan of North Platte visited her grandmother Mrs Rose Burke, and Walter Cassel returned to work at the state hospital in Yankton. A group attended the William Lawrence auction sale Tuesday. Laura Mills and Mrs John Witte of Sioux City visited Friday. At Wednesday evening’s community hall meeting Earl Michael was chosen chair.

Good Friday services at Congregational church featured a sermon and Morningside College music. Family visits and travel notes span Leeds Armour Guthrie Center Alta Elkton and Elkton SD. Birthday party for Mary Jane Lucinger and university senior Mary Spaulding’s spring return are highlighted.
