Easter programs unfold with bass duets and choirs, Sunday school youth concerts, and special services in multiple Lutheran churches. Highlights include Good Friday candlelight, Easter Day divine service at 10:30, pageants, and a Memorial Singing Tower program with choirs, soloists, and an Easter sermon.
Stanton Evangelical delivers Sunday School at 9:00 a.m. with the theme Paul Preaches the Rising Christ. Worship service and Easter message follow at 11:00 a.m. with related reflections and greetings.
The church announces the reception of members into the fellowship and a baptismal service at 7 30 with an evening worship service and sermon to follow. The missionary societies plan a joint meeting Friday evening April 14 with an arranged program. Elmer M Bauer of Union Presbyterian Sunday school leads a 10 am worship service at 11 am. Dr Paul Cliff delivers inspiring sermons with extra music. All are welcome to worship.
Knudson, a younger legislator, criticizes the proposed state office building project arguing Iowa should not incur huge rent costs for Des Moines property owners. Proponents say the state would save money by owning its building, while opponents fear a costly white elephant used for political attacks. Efforts to defer action fail as supporters press ahead.
The village W. C. T. U. gathered at the village home for a talk on the nationwide alcohol education program linked to Frances Willard’s centennial. Admission includes a small fee for general attendees, with complimentary tickets for clients and activity tickets honored. doors open at eight with no reserved seating.
LeMars will sponsor an eight club kittenball league this year with city limits players only. The recreation department of the W P A backs the slow style format from last season with evenly balanced clubs. Entered teams include Mess Grocery Les Hartter captain Wells Dairy by Bill Reynolds Hansen Kaun by Rome.
A city softball league invites players to join eight teams including Schultz Globe-Post and Georke's Market. A rules committee led by Jim Daley will meet next Wednesday at the recreation hall to set rules and opening date tentatively April 24. Entry is 5 dollars per club plus 50 cents per player. costs include energy for lights at about 1 dollar per night and weekly expenses estimated at 13 dollars. An all-star team may be formed to play outside clubs on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Mrs Clareta Younglove of Sioux City instructor for the Girl Scout leader training class attended the Marionette show with Mrs J Schott and daughters Julia and Ruth for Le Mars girl scouts at 4 pm in the Junior High auditorium. A potluck dinner followed at 6 pm with a birthday cake marking Mrs Younglove's birthday. The final lesson of the 20 hour course was presented after dinner.
