Almerta Hoyt Wins County Spelling Contest

Almerta Hoyt, a pupil at Le Mars, won first place in both the oral and written tests at the county spelling contest. Janette Bohlke was a substitute and Almerta later shared top oral honors. The winner advances to the state contest.

Seney Mr and Mrs Frank Becker traveled Sunday to Hudson to learn their son in law Walter Woodhouse is seriously ill with pneumonia. A large Home Missionary meeting gathered at Mrs Phillips home for Lent observance and mite box opening. Various local families hosted visiting relatives and friends across the week including the Hartogs and Koldenhovens, Perry and Howes families, and travelers from Orange City and Lincoln Nebraska.
