Priest Docher in Custody Faces Trial for Fraud and Impersonation
Fifty nine year old John Lawrence alias Docher, a self described linguist and missionary, is held awaiting trial Wednesday in Father Meis' church case. He produced duplicate priest certificates from a New York bishop in 1865 and claimed a family name, while alleging mission work among Indians in Mexico and China. Church members accuse him of fraud and fear his certificates, with defense by Asgo Melodie & Rereho, in Justice Kaus court.
