Des Moines State Fair Announces 1880 Campaign Details
The Des Moines fair runs August 26 to September 2 with 35000 in premiums across stock farm garden dairy workshop and household. It features barns for 1000 head of cattle horses hogs and 120 sheep pens plus a large poultry house and extensive display buildings. Free camping ground with electricity and water, horse separation, on ground lodging and equipment rentals. Grand amphitheater seating 5000, trotting trials, a cavalcade of horses and cattle, free morning concerts by E P Band and Boy's Band. One fare rail travel round trip, and improving rail and streetcar service to the grounds. Admission 25 cents adults. under 12 free with parents. Soldiers receive free admission Tuesday and Wednesday.
