Dry fore M. E. Cotter reports deep well still dry

M. E. Cotter states the drill has reached 108 feet in Frank Young's well and encountered very hard rock with no water yet. A Sunday night rain interrupted plowing for a few hours Monday and dumped a large amount of water, but there are no reports of damages.

Ken Emil Carlson seen on the streets Saturday. A crowd attended the Ione game on the Jones diamond. BW Sigsbee rode Sunday train to Portland. Rain has been heavy the past week and farmers anticipate a strong harvest this fall. Ice cream offer noted at a local pharmacy. E Turner visited Saturday and Monday on business. Harlan left Lone on his way week.

Ione Defeats Umatilla in Two Baseball Games

Ione roared to a double win over Umatilla as M Blake and Sperry dominated on mound and at bat. In game one Cason homered with two on, while Sperry struck out 12 and held Umatilla to six hits across six innings. The second contest featured tight defense and late scoring, with Ione seizing a 4 to 3 victory as Blake and Coshow delivered key hits.

Local visitors linger in town and upcoming school break noted

Paul Treedson was in town Monday on a business trip. The last issue of the Omelet is expected about a week after school is out. The editorial matter is being prepared by the School Staff. Joe Water was in Ione Saturday evening to visit with his family and also attend the entertainment.

Pleasant ride and local visits around Ione and Gooseberry

Ye Editor enjoyed a ride with T B Buffington and toured John Calkino and White ranches northeast of Ione. Art Pierce and wife attended the high school track meet and ball games in Ione. Dr Mrs Chick hosted. Others include Dave Rogers, Chas Benedict from Morgan, Chas Allinger installing a new boiler at Dick Turpin barber shop, Leonard Carlson from Gooseberry, and Dick Turpin’s visit to Heppner then return by train.
