City of Lone Ore announces all dogs must be muzzled or tied under Mayor Dr C C Chick enforcement. Dogs found running loose will be shot. Also notes Bert Mason offers Good Turkey Hens for sale and W H Cronk attending Retail Lumber Dealers meeting in Portland for about a week.
Ike Howard arrived in Portland this week as a visitor and engaged in two small business dealings during the stay.
The Heppner Light and Water Co warns of deadly 1000 volt transmission lines between Heppner and Jane and offers a fifty dollar reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone injuring tampering with the lines or safety devices. The notice stresses liability for accidents caused by vandals and urges rapid reporting and enforcement. It also notes a dentist visit and a dog control order issued by the city marshal amid an emergency.
We thank the people of Tone and vicinity for assistance in finding Frank Engelman who arrived on the train tonight after a short business trip. John Harbke arrived on the train tonight. The Condon auto stage is nearly ready for its first trip in weeks. The lone trip has been ongoing for about a week on head of good bales.
A church gathering at the Rev J L Jones parsonage on February 22 fed a long dining room table with gifts and good things. The event honored Mrs Jones birthday and included playful games at Buffington building. Yeomen members held a separate meeting for new candidates, with songs, dancing, and refreshments, while local residents with farm notes and business visits fill the rest of the week.
State Health officer Roberg reported rabies in a coyote head examined after it bit a dog a pig and other owned animals in Howard Lone Ore. This marks the first rabies case from that state session in several months per the Oregonian.
Vergie Crawford traveled from Heppner to visit her parents during a short trip last week, sharing time with family members and catching up on hometown news.
