Wheat yields seen. light rain aids crops in lode district

Mr. R. EB Heron reports wheat conditions improving with some fields low in yield yet others reaching six to twenty bushels per acre. The lode district received a light rain Thursday and a good rain Saturday with showers Sunday. haying on Creek ranches paused but alfalfa farmers remained hopeful. County Agent B Halli advises spraying noxious weeds Canada thistle and wild morning glory at blossoming time with sodium chlorate or calcium chlorate to kill them.

Grange Event and Pomona Gathering announce programs

Grange notes a Saturday night program at Cecil Grange hall with speaker Mr Snell of Arlington, readings, a playlet A Days Work by seven girls, piano selections, and a business meeting. Morrow County Pomona Grange will meet with Rhea Creek Grange on Saturday July 6. Traders await farm relief board actions possibly boosting wheat prices by five cents per bushel.

Captain Hall to Hold Services in Morgan and Riley Event

Captain G L Hall of McMinnville brings his two daughters Frances and Phyllis for religious services in Morgan Sunday June 30 at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Zone Baptist church. Monday July 1 a program titled An Evening With Riley will be presented at the Baptist church. The note accompanying mentions Johnnie Eubanks’s health and hospital visit, American Legion Auxiliary activities, and a string of local social updates including graduations and visits around Hood River, Portland, and McKay Lake.

Morgan News Men Visit From Hood River

Mr. Radcliff of Coseburg visited Morgan on Wednesday to bring up a load of strawberries and apples from Hood River and to discuss a wheat hauling job for the year. He hauled wheat here last year.
