Base ball fans are urged to meet at Legion hall on Sunday afternoon January 27 at 2 30 p m to discuss season plans including new seating funded by public subscriptions. Lone’s team has drawn business interest. attendees should pledge donations and players should report to help select a winning squad led by Bert Mason the manager.

The annual misting of the lower Congregational church was held Tuesday evening at Paul G. Balsiger’s residence. Officers were elected including Lydia Balsiger as treasurer Clyce Schriver as board chair and Mrs Louis Balsiger as clerk. Reports show all bills paid and cash balances in funds with $800 in the building fund. Rabbit drives at the Hoardman project yielded several hundred rabbits. County Agent Morse and Mrs Moore of the Biological Survey spoke on the rabbit problem and control methods. A drive is planned for January 20. Billie Wood, son of H C Wood, is ill with measles.
Lexington defeated Lone Tone 6 to 2 in a frenzied Friday night game on the home floor as both teams opened their seasons. The prelim saw Lexington edging the Lone second team 20 to 3. Separately, the Lone National Farm Loan Association stockholders met January 8 and elected directors. officers and delegates were also chosen for the annual Pendleton meeting.
The Mellon plan aims to cut income taxes by over 300 million dollars, but passage of a bonus levy would negate that cut and raise taxes. Ex soldiers turned businessmen would face higher taxes on their bonuses. Critics accuse candidates of deceptive tax promises while urging new obligations. State and national veteran bonuses total about 650.6 million, already exceeding France and Britain combined.
Cap Frank Porter held a special engagement at Pendleton on Sunday. George Cothrain traveled to Waco on Tuesday to visit his brother.
