Boardman Defeats Zone In Close League Opener
Boardman and Ione high schools opened the season with a tight boys game that Boardman won by two points 17 to 15 amid rough play by visiting players. Boardman’s girls team also won decisively, margin about twenty points 20 to 5.

Death of Ebenezer B. Gorton
Ebenezer B. Gorton died December 26 1924 at Morgan Ohio aged 80. Born February 27 1844 in Big Island Ohio he served in the Civil War with battles at Shiloh Stones River Chickamauga and Missionary Ridge. He lived in Marion and Morgan and is survived by son Joseph B. Gorton and daughters Ina E. Hardke and Florence K. Hardesty. Funeral services were held at Morgan schoolhouse with burial in Lone Cemetery.

Biz Engelman was seriously indisposed this week but is reported much improved as we go to press. E. Moore and Floyd Barnett returned to Hood River after a short visit. Biz Engelman installed a new radio for Dr Walker, now within hearing distance of all the world. The old Ione schoolhouse will soon be a memory as wrecking continues. Mme. Emma Johnson of Condom, sister of Mrs L P Davidson, is in Tone receiving care at The Dalles Hospital then with Mrs Davidson. she is improved but still bedridden.
