Groundhog day weather hints at six more weeks of winter, as conditions shift from springlike to flood concerns. Willow Creek rose to high water around 1 oclock Saturday, with the area reaching flood stage by 10 oclock. For an hour the creek brimmed with ice chips and muddy water, causing no overflow or ranch damage above town.
A Washington DC block of White House roof timber salvaged during remodel was given to Jones School by the National Lumber Manufacturer Association. Mra Brown and 7th grader exhibit the keepsake, with a formal history of the timber and its installation in the Executive Mansion.
Harold Stoner of the American Institute of Banking advocates active student participation. He says education today emphasizes personal experimentation, discussion, and self expression. Students learn by applying new meanings to prior experience through guided activities and practical problem solving.
Jone lost a hard fought game to Boardman last Friday night by a 21 to 6 score. Boardman showed team work and sharp shooting led by Wicklander who had seven field goals. Eubanks led Love with two fields. Next Thursday Jone hosts Boardman on their floor. Lexington girls and second team boys play the same night. Local turnout urged to back the teams as the second teams provided thrills.

Wm. T. Campbell declares candidacy for County Judge in Mo County at the upcoming Republican primary. He pledges to carry out the duties of the office to the best of his ability and serve the public.
The town team lost to the High School team in a Thursday night practice game benefiting the High School squad. Lineups feature Gladys Brasher and Pattyjohn at forwards, Ruth Keene at center, Mildred Smith and Geneva Pettjohn as guards, with Rosa Fletcher Fern Engelman Louise McCabe Lavile Rhoten Norma Swanson and Frieda Slocum also noted on the teams.
Deputies from Clyde G. Hootly at the Internal Revenue office will tour Oregon towns to help taxpayers file 1929 federal income tax returns.
