Relief Com State Advances Coin For Seed

Local men will pass on loan applications as the committee from wheat growing parties re commended. House Bill 261 was passed as an emergency measure and signed by the Governor providing up to 1 500 000 for seed wheat loans secured by flat mortgages on the crop. Interest 6 percent and the Board of Control may extend credit one year from January 1 1926. An advisory board appointed by the Board of Control will pass on applications with their recommendations guiding final action.

Reverend Mortimore to Leave Local Christian Church

The local congregation plans a public reception Tuesday and the pastor Mrs Mortimore will depart Sunday for a new field of labor. His departure enables continued studies at Eugene Bible University. A successor has not yet been named though plans for a call are underway. Mrs Gunzel is recovering at home after a fall. her condition is reported to be improving.

Heppner Com Mercant Club Road Rally Draws Support

Heppner Commercial Club held a well attended meeting with details on the Oregon Washington highway problem. Judge Wm Duby and Divisional Engineer Baldock spoke on state aid, noting Mor row County must act and that Umatilla County will fund its share when ready. Peak traffic recorded at 800 cars per day at Heppner Junction, up 20 percent from the prior year, while the previous year’s decline continued.
