Rail Board Asked to Annul Agreement
A western railroads committee will file with the United States Rail Labor Board to annul the December 14 wage settlement between the Southern Pacific system and its engineers and firemen. They claim the decision was forced under threat of transport interruption and could pressure other lines to accept similar terms. The petition cites an November 29 board order granting a 6 percent wage rise conditional on rule changes, arguing the SP deal bypassed that ruling and would raise western railway operating costs.
