Lone Town Team Beats Lexington In Rain Delayed Game

The Lone Town team defeated Lexington 4 to 1 on a Sunday afternoon after a 1 to 1 tie. Youne Pilstow starred with Lone's first run, described as the Babe Ruth of the day. Lexington next faces Pine City at Lexington, while Lone has no Sunday game scheduled.

A. B. Montgomery and John Montgomery stayed at the Hotel Ione with their wives visiting Ione. The Log Cabin Baking company of Bakers of Holsum bread won the Harry M. Freer trophy for best bread in the United States for the 150th time. The Lexing ton battle anniversary was marked by Ione High School faculty and students. Deacon I. N. Howard and family plan to move to Hood River. Hap Woods traveled to Branfield and R. L. Ekleberry went to North Powder on business. Lone school staff includes Roy Skeen, Alper A Crossant, Mrs. Blance Hummel, Miss Linia Treedson, and Earl A. Brown. Ford trucks were sold to Standard Oil with a bulk-tank and a steel-body delivery vehicle. Visitors from South Bend, Washington, E. P. Newton and family, returned after a stay in Ione. Mrs. C. W. Swanson and Mrs. Frank Engelman visited with Mrs. Newton’s family. International Harvester Primrose Cream Separators offered at reduced prices. The final line notes life’s maps are learned by those with extra time.

Bethel Chapel Missionary Society Social at Chapel

Bethel Chapel hosts a Thursday afternoon social inviting the Dorcas Society from Jones and Lexington. The program featured Chinese songs, whistling solos, stories, coon songs, piano solos, and duets with refreshments served.

Mr and Mrs B H Grady and family visited Chas Swindig and family of Heppner and attended a show there Sunday. Mrs Fred Lucas hosted six tables of bridge with prizes to Mrs R Thompson, Mrs W Ball and Mrs McNamer. Mrs Wm Beamer of Heppner had a car accident in Lexington last Thursday. Rufus Nichols and wife from Pullman are visiting. Ralph Jackson and wife returned from Hubbard Oregon. Bruce Grady and Alva Jones of Lexington were in Jordan Tuesday. Delvin Cox and family of Roosevelt Washington spent the weekend here. Pine City beat Lexington 7 to 6 in a feature baseball game. Neil White and family rented their farm north of Lexington and moved to Ukiah. A letter from Mrs Clarke continues on page four.

Seventy Years Young This April Birthday Party

Mrs. Katie Petteys celebrated her eighty first birthday with a long list of friends from Portland and South Bend. The gathering, totaling 1786 combined years, enjoyed a birthday dinner and recalled old times, with plans to reunite next April 15 for another celebration.
