Democrats Use Stockraising Homestead Bill For Politics

A critical Senate action on the stockraising homestead bill is challenged as a political maneuver by Democratic leaders. The measure, passed by the Senate, was not ready for House consideration before adjournment, with advocates claiming it would save the West for Wilson. Critics argue the bill failed in both houses due to Democratic timidity and stockmen opposition, and warn it will await December adjournment rather than becoming law now. The piece accuses Democratic leadership of misleading statements about the bill’s status and timing.
