The Wyoming Tid Bits column reports on Carroll Kimball family quarantined for smallpox, local residents attending dances and visiting relatives, job moves of Miss Gladys Phillips and Carrie Barnett, plans for a big May 20 dance at Donald Hall, several short trips to Alva and Bear Lodge country, planting corn, and the burial of Martha Groat near Alvacon May 7.
Chas McGuire and Mrs. Robert Garman listed sick this week. Judge Tate works for Jim Chittim on the ranch. Lisle Powell bought seed wheat last Monday. AL Padgitt hauling lumber from his saw mill to Montana. Miss Gertrude Watson visited Nosie Storm. George Dalton finished a cistern for Charlie Roberts. Bill Fowlkes planting corn for C. L. Tate. Clem Blore rebuilding a reservoir on the Asher Knepper place. Scott Blodgett visited Mr. and Mrs. John Young man last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rathbun visited Clem Blore Sunday. L. O. Glassburn drove to Moorcroft with horses sold last Thursday. Miss Alice Congleton visited from Hulett over Sunday. The local orchards are beautiful with light blossoms and fragrance. cold weather and frosts may yield a good fruit season.
May winds sweep through Mona notes. H Cremeens and J J Nelson visited Belle Fourche. Mrs D W Tracy spent Sunday with sister Mrs Lana Nelson. J H Bates and C J Derrickson finished plowing for H L Sims. Mona highlights a dance by Aten Dick Harrison and Plummer building for J J Nelson. J O Ferreda family visited Sunday.
Local residents were seen in town on various days including George Brownfield, Mr Branaman, Mr Schober, Mr OBrien of Sundance, Mr Miller, Conda Chaffin, Mrs Nels Magnet, and County Superintendent Knoff. Social events include a dance at Aladdin Hall May 20, and attendance at Belle Fourche movies.
John Silverstrand visited his sister on Saturday while Clarence Lagest travelled to Sundance last week. The crowd along the river Sunday watched a play titled The Savannah?agt, according to an incomplete local note.
The Kelly school opened Monday with Miss Mary McCluer in charge. Luke O. Smith became a hat merchant. Mrs. W. A. Ripley spoke on school matters Sunday. Archie Turneaure and Rev. Brown visited last Thursday. Sunday School gathered at E. A. Allen's to practice new songs. Mrs. Watson reportedly broke her leg last Saturday. The Farmers Society of Equality added eleven members with ice cream and cake Saturday evening. Norman Allen’s plowing event last week led to a runaway team and one horse badly cut by the plow.
Rev W B Charles led meetings at New Haven schoolhouse drawing strong local interest with four new members added at the church. Memorial services planned for next Sunday and Decoration Day on May 30 with patriotic music in Hulett. Brass band revival discussed, local youths show musical promise, and preaching at Helle Friday.
