Carl Vroo man assistant secretary of Agriculture urges every city boy girl and woman to turn yard or vacant lot into a garden to grow multiple crops for wartime food needs. He cites higher food prices and rail demands and lists crops and farming practices including spring wheat potatoes oats beans vegetables poultry saving waste and silos. W R Reeves county agent comments on local interest and Commissioner Gundesson advised for land laws. C W McGoy has been ill.

The District No 10 meeting produced a harmonious turnout with policy support and two new members Rev J M Brown and A W Storm elected to the board. Retiring members Grr man and Pearson honored for loyal service. Bond election discussed to improve facilities. Other district notes include the Moore school district No 19 tax levy and Bay school term close with program and dinner.
Local residents plan a coordinated effort on Tuesday June Sth to repair and improve roads. C C Storm leads one group while Treed Pearson heads the other, with neighboring communities invited to participate and supply lunch.
Sunday in May is set apart by Congress and the Chief Executive to attend church in honor of mothers. All who love their mother are invited to come to church Sunday evening bearing a white carnation or another flower. Music is planned and remarks on mothers will be given.
Last Friday at the church the Girls Sewing Club of Hulett displayed a fine exhibit. Ethel Dagger won first in the senior class, Bea Chittini second. Marie Engle first and Gertrude Storm second in the senior class. Also notes on local residents, job changes, and public notices appear in this community page.
