A Sunday morning fire at 2:30 in Hulett destroyed the Hotel owned by W. E. Tinkcom, a barber shop, restaurant, pool hall, and adjacent shops. Loss estimated at 12000 dollars, insured in part. origin unknown. Local residents and visitors aided extinguishing efforts as town contemplates rebuilding.
Charles Edward Dayton a longtime W and M railroad conductor died in Aladdin last Saturday at 1 25 p m of pneumonia He was born September 13 1847 in Yetbank Suffolk County New York and lived in Davenport Belle Plaine Chadron Hot Springs and Aladdin where he led the first train into town Funeral services were held in Aladdin with burial in Belle Plain Iowa The bereaved include brother George Dayton two nephews Will and John Dayton and a wide circle of friends.
Under date of February 20, 1014, oil lands near Moorcroft were restored to entry after withdrawal last May. Lands lie in townships 60 to 52 and ranges 66 to 68, with filings now possible at Sundance land office.
The Hulett Commercial Club thanks all who helped fight the Sunday morning fire. Special praise goes to the ladies for heroic work as volunteers carried water and kept lines flowing until the blaze was under control. The note honors the town’s men and women for their energy and coordinated effort.
Walter M. Willson of Alva Wyoming advertises Timothy seed sold clean at six cents per pound stating availability and pricing for buyers.
Mrs. Jessie Cadwell formerly Jessie Rundell of North Fork and Thompson Creek died at Deadwood hospital after an operation. She was a popular young lady, wife of Ernest Cadwell, with mourning extended to her husband and parents. A fuller notice will follow next week.
The section outlines that patents issued under this act reserve all coal and minerals to the United States, with rights to prospect, mine, and remove. The government may dispose of deposits under coal and mineral land laws, and qualified locator or miner may enter for prospecting while not harming improvements, or compensate crops damages. Sam Tate moved to the ranch to join the hon yockers. Dr. Fasser of Belle Fourche called for consultations. Joe Svobado injures hand hammering.
