Good Roads Day Proclaimed In Wyoming 1920

Governor Robert D. Carey proclaims Tuesday June 22 1920 as Goods Roads Day urging citizens across Wyoming to devote time to highway improvements. Mayors county boards and organizations urged to cooperate and business houses asked to close to aid observance in Cheyenne.

Fourth of July Celebration Planned at Devil's Tower

At a joint meeting of Hulett Moorcroft Carlile and Sundance representatives in Carlile plans formed for a one day Fourth of July event on July 3. Officers named include J W Webster chairman R K Mespell vice chairman L T Oldroyd secretary and Bert Waddel treasurer. A $600 fund will be raised and shared among towns. Activities include speeches music a noon picnic sports a 1 to 3 p m ball game east Crook vs west Crook county a supper picnic and an evening pavilion dance with a $100 purse for the ball game and cash prizes for other events. Oil gasoline water and ice will be provided.

Miss Geneva Swanson wraps up a successful term at Dirk's school and leaves for Anoka Minnesota on Monday. A neighborhood picnic at the schoolhouse with rain enjoyed by all, with a ladies’ dinner and several recent parties. Farmers report most crops in.

Miss Claudia Johnson and Mrs Geo Jolley with others chased cattle last week. Emma Wood stayed with Mrs Geo Jolley while J W Lawrence and Walter drove cattle through Goldie vicinity. Wood family visited Stoddard home. Warren Gray, Dora Gray seen in Goldie area. Misses Fosters returned from their class Saturday evening. Sunday School Organization drew a large crowd on June 6 with Stoddard and family, Lawrence and family, Mrs Steele and Bertha Fowlkes visiting E J Wood.

Hansey Parson returned from Alliance Nebraska and was a pleasant caller at Ewing. Co. P. Kester and W. H. Blakeman came back from Osage seeking employment. Mrs Lavince Christiansen visited Mayme Redding. Lloyd Redding visited Hugh Davidson. Farmers have leased land to oil men and expect a drilling rig soon. J J Hauber gathered horses, Elder Dillon visited G H Davidson and stopped at Ewing. Bud Music and daughter Ethel passed through Ewing.

Miss Frances Clark Weds James H Benson at Newcastle

Miss Frances Clark and James H. Benson united in marriage at Newcastle Wyoming on Tuesday June 15 1920. The bride is the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs C L Clark of New Haven vicinity and well liked by friends. The groom, a stockman, raises stock in Crook county and will live on his ranch near New Haven.
