Last Monday evening at the Bant home in Rockypoint town Claude J. Closson and Rosa E. Kinman were married by Rev. J. M. Brown. Only Closson’s sister Mrs J Kubacker and her son attended. The couple plan to reside on a homestead near Rockypoint as friends extend best wishes.
Local Lodge of Odd Fellows elected officers for the coming term last Saturday evening. Installed early next year will be Chas Hauber Noble Grand F D Bothwell Vice Grand E C Engle Secretary R W Garman Treasurer George F Grenier Trustee. Attendance during summer was light but is rising.
Miss Iva Marshall visited the school Monday while Francis Clark and Frankie Tice were absent due to sickness. Clare Callquist performed an instrumental solo last Thursday. The first year class starts a new reader after finishing the Aldine Primer. the third grade completes a reader and prepares for new books. Miss Ethel Dagger misses this week for her sister's Tower wedding attendance.
Sunday services in Hulett are set for 10 a m Sunday School 11 a m preaching 7 90 p m with a Terrestrial Creations Choir. Choir practice Wednesdays. Mrs Lou Thompson is ill and Miss Iva Marshall visited from Tower. Jim Chittim hurt his back lifting grain. Clark brothers arrived with their horses and are at the ranch east of town. A turkey and goose shoot is planned for Friday with prizes for top shooters. The drawing for a haul event will occur Saturday evening December 11.
Foreclosure of a December 12 1910 mortgage by David B Hilton and Matel P Hilton to Frank W Avery is set for January 11 1916 at 2 PM. The sale on Sundance front of Court House will offer East half of Northwest quarter Lot Two and East half of the Northwest quarter of Northwest quarter of Section Nine Township 42 North Range 60 West. The debt totals 196.08 with taxes penalties and interest to November 11 1915. Attorneys are Harry P Ilsley and John M Thorn. sheriff is John M Thorn auctioneer.
Born to Mr and Mrs T C Hooker of Alva on December 5 a son Rev Brown will travel to Carlile tomorrow morning to hold evening services. Carlile residents regularly attend to hear Rev Brown and show appreciation for his ministry.
Instructions for transferring a brand include obtaining the proper form from a bank county clerk or attorney or by writing to the Secretary of the Board of Live Stock Commissioners Cheyenne. Fill in the brand transfer and have the bill of sale acknowledged by a notary public or qualified officer to avoid delays. Recording fee is $1.00.
Cecil Storm returns from Billings to examine Billings Poly technic Institute advantages. Eileen Mudd, Garza Mudd’s daughter, was seriously ill but is now improving. The New Store features holiday goods in the Globe. Sunday School social raises over 22 dollars for chairs and table. Mrs. Tate will host supper for a Saturday dance, with tables in the lodge room. Mail Christmas packages early to aid post offices during peak season.
Fred Blatt surveys the Lama Jones road this week while the Creamery man grinds feed. The village blacksmith shoes horses the last week. Clark Bros. rode through Alva last Saturday en route to their ranch near Hulett. Walter Osborne shingles Colvin’s house this week. A C Woodcock paused through Alva Monday on his way to Sundance.
County Agent Reeves and H H Gunderson visited New Haven ranchers last week. Clark runs his planet this week producing siding and flooring for trade. Ed Turnquist and family traded in town Tuesday. Vertreen built a new house on his homestead. Thanksgiving dances drew crowds and Mrs Hoback prepared a fine turkey supper. Mr and Mrs J W Randal spent Thanksgiving with daughter Mrs George Jones near Rocky Point. Wessie Stull freighted grain to Albert Grandbouche’s place on Spring Creek.
Threshing accident at Ed Fowlkes ranch left Mr Tripp with a badly cut hand. Congleton family to spend winter near the neighborhood. Fowlkes team hauling grain to Moorcroft. Jim Strong at work for Hoback in New Haven. Kirk Stoddard seen passing through in school matters. Ted Madding heads to Buffalo for winter work. Jessie Wilson to Omaha for medical consultation. Spelling contest set for December 18 at 8 pm with a box supper for ladies.
