The Ed Willson schoolhouse near Deer Creek burned last Sunday evening, destroying the building and its contents and tools owned by Chas Eldridge. Eldridge had recently moved the structure from the Nels Davis site to a downstream location, and his moving tools were lost in the blaze. The building was not insured, marking a second recent schoolhouse fire after the Deer Creek structure. The losses are substantial both financially and in inconvenience.
A mistyped but clear note urges farmers to plant more grain this fall. It highlights recent moisture, predicts ample feed and grain, and recommends trying rye and winter wheat for better autumn and spring yields. It emphasizes grain certainty compared to spring sowing and encourages new plantings.
Forest Lea Miss Trusx visited the active neighborhood last Thursday and Friday. Mrs. G. W. Jones was taken much worse last Sunday and is now very ill. A fine rain last Saturday and Monday aided grass and late potatoes. Mr Brass fell from a hay load and a horse kicked him, breaking his leg. Steve Wright was struck by a broad axe injuring his leg. he was taken to Hulett where Dr Knight sewed arteries and he is recovering.
Mrs. Mike Gage visits her Minnesota parents this summer. B F Engle reports a well at 80 feet yielding fine water, three to four feet deep. A severe hail storm damaged vines with no wind, followed by a heavy rain at night leaving ground soaked and streams low. Everette Eogle toured the area Friday selling dining items and spices, doing good business and hoped to continue.

Mr Dan Hoy and wife came from Alzada Thursday to visit his brother before returning to Ewalt Mont where he and Mr Darrow are building reservoirs.
Local items report Mr. Denison's milch cow broke her leg while Miss McIntire from Boulder visits. Miss Switzer from Lightning Flats spent a week nearby. School enjoys a week off for rest but resumes with crops poor yet prospects for threshing. Rain earlier in the week aids garden and crops. Miss Petras returns to Nebraska. Mrs Davidson’s relatives arrive from Lying, Neb, with Miss Brion filing on a homestead after liking the country.
The Campstool ranch is busy putting up their second crop of alfalfa. Mrs. Lebo has ripe tomatoes. Miss Mamie Sanford opened school Monday with seventeen in attendance. Mrs. Feight of Pine Ridge is staying with her daughter, Mrs. Wm Oonzelman. The Haptonstall, Conley and Pecht families took an outing on Lytle Creek Sunday. Miss Liva LaGest celebrated her birthday with friends. One neighbor overfed and killed twelve chickens. Was the comet to blame for a hailstorm that blew the top off M. Dagger's oat stack? Mr. Anderson boasted the largest fish caught in the Balle Fourche vicinity this year.
Dave Dorsett has returned home from Redwater and Spearfish valleys where he was engaged putting up bay. Mrs. Dorsett will visit a few weeks with Mrs. Fred Gray at Alzado Montana before returning home.

D L Owens and wife made a flying trip to Sundance last week as showers break drought. Ranchers plan haying and harvesting while some cattle from Spearfish move toward Powder River in search of range water. Donald school house route discussed for moving it one mile west. gates and road access noted. John Thorn named sheriff candidate with long Crook County roots. campaign brief and voter notes.
A buyer named Stock Grand Watted seeks to purchase a cattle and horse brand registered in Wyoming. He also wants a registered Sere ford bull aged one or two years. Communications with price offers should be sent to P. Woxen in Rockypoint Wyoming.
The Gillette News notes a strong Republican movement in the county to nominate Frank C. Haselton, former county commissioner, for the trust position this fall.
