Family Trip Reports Colorado Auto Tour and Pike’s Peak Visit
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mann with Irvin Heide and sisters Olga Ellen and Nena Willson of Aladdin returned Saturday from a three week Colorado auto tour. They visited Denver Colorado Springs and Pike’s Peak with a drive to the summit on the new private road charging two dollars per passenger or four dollars per car. The steep eighteen mile climb has a ten percent grade and requires engine compression on the descent. Cars often need brake relining after the trip but the journey is considered worthwhile. The mountain top was snow covered and water stations and safety measures were provided along the route. Mr. Mann’s Overland remained undamaged on the descent.
