State tax rate set at 28 cents per $100
The state tax board will fix the levy at 28 cents per $100 for this year after conferring with Governor Jackson and State Auditor Bowman. Taxable property totals $5,268,117,801, with anticipated revenue to fund state business and leave a balance of $824,939.83 by October 1, 1926. A likely decrease next year is noted due to a $1,500,008 gap in authorized expenditures for fiscal years 1925-26 and 1960.
