Buses Push Freights Out On Madison Division
With motor buses replacing rail service on the Madison division of the Pennsylvania Lines freight trains were discontinued on Sept 1. Shipments under 4000 pounds ride in a box car attached to the passenger train leaves Columbus at 9 35 a m and Madison at 2 55 p m. One round trip daily except Sunday by a single passenger train. A D Conner says passenger business fell 50 percent in the last year due to bus competition. Residents along the old pan handle line call the move a step backward.
