Bruno Betzel's Indians visit Rochester to close the little world series as Bill Burwell faces Herman Bell in a 2 PM game. Rob Russell belts two homers and Steve Swetonic wins his third series start as Indianapolis seeks a fifth win to clinch the title.
Probable lineups list Red Wings Brown Layne Gelbert Félix Kaufmann Monahan Urban Morrow Bell and umpires Clark versus Indians Matthews Connolly Haney Russell Kiron Wariker Holke Burwell Johnson for a 2:00 start.
Dublin Indiana October 6 authorities probed a crash between a school bus and a railway section car near here. One man, William Holbert, 65, is fatally injured and 29 others suffer minor injuries. Bus driver William Howard failed to see the section car, the bus overturned, and seven children were shaken but only lightly hurt. Kathleen Hummick suffered more than minor injuries. a group of 22 Pennsylvanian railroad workers were thrown to the ground. Frank Guadanola drove the section car and trailer.
Ft Thomas police identified the dead as Herman Steele of Newport and Dewey Colvin of Covington after a trio fatally wounded Ft Thomas constable William Tressler. James Fuller and George Gugel said the pair were among alleged robbers who also stole cars in Danville Illinois and Louisville. Police chased the third suspect across several cities as Newman Guy, a former Shelburn marshal, fended off the group by shooting Colvin and Steele.
City council traffic committee considered continuing the downtown three way traffic plan today amid complaints that pedestrians are frustrated by the regulation which stops all traffic for forty five seconds to let pedestrians cross. President Connell defended the system while Springsteen scheduled another meeting Tuesday to review codifying the rules and Spencer urged changes to illegal sections. Connell proposed ending rights and left turns for street cars and motor vehicles on Washington St to solve the downtown problem.
Judge James A. Collins overruled motions to quash indictments against six defendants in a county grand jury crime cleanup. Nahamis and Goldsmith face false impersonation charges tied to a gambling raid. Wright linked to a fatal shooting and Traugott explosion case. he is charged as an habitual criminal.
The First Baptist Church brotherhood will hold its first monthly dinner on Monday October 15. Dr J B Carr president announced the event and Dr Albert W Beaver pastor of Lake Avenue Baptist Church Rochester NY will speak.
Herbert Hoover leaves the Hoover Special train to deliver a pivotal speech at Elizabethton Tennessee the first Republican presidential address south of the Mason Dixon line since the Civil War. He will follow with brief talks in Johnson City and gatherings with veterans before returning to Washington.
Red Grange, the phantom of the gridiron, arrives in Indianapolis for a weeklong engagement at the Lyric Theater starting Sunday with Seventy-Seven The Galloping Ghost will also visit four city high schools and Butler University for football practice sessions From Monday Technical High will host Grange followed by Manual Butler Shortridge and Cathedral High through Friday He headlines a strong New York cast in the miniature musical comedy.
Paul Trainor, 31, Ohio Hotel, strolled from a marathon dance with a girl when a confrontation arose with William Mahlom, 29, at 1625 Shelby Street. Trainor punched Mahlom unconscious, Mahlom was taken to city hospital with injuries and Trainor was charged with assault and battery. Mahlom’s companion fled, the girl escaped, and Trainor claimed no knowledge of Mahlom or a holdup plan.
George H Dunmeyer aged 54 native of Indianapolis was found dead in bed at his home 4407 Central Ave death due to heart disease He was a traveling salesman for an Indianapolis drug firm and is survived by a brother E C Dunmeyer and three sisters Funeral services set for 3 pm Monday at his brother’s home with burial at Crown Hill Cemetery
Loren Edmonds 24 of 223 W New York St reported being robbed of 95 by a Negro assailant who struck with a brick and two Negro women dragged him to a house at 329 Ellsworth St The women Maude McCauley 318 N Senate Ave and Gertrude Campbell 329 Ellsworth St were held for investigation James McCaslin 56 Rural Route 28 Zionsville Ind said a Negro woman robbed him of 50 at Pattie Harris 321 Toledo St Friday They were held.

A victory for the Indians would give the Bettermen the Class AA league championship and fans are urged to join at The Times party. The third world series game between the Yanks and the Cardinals is set for Sunday at 1 30 and baseball fans are invited to attend.
Harry Belford, 38, conductor of a College Ave street car, was seriously injured this morning after running around the rear of his car into a moving automobile at College Ave and Twentieth St. He collided with a roadster driven by Lawrence Hess, 33, of 2937 N Denny St. Belford sustained a broken collar bone, a dislocated right shoulder, and a deep head gash. He was taken to City Hospital.
Evansville residents report five missing persons including 28 year old Helen Waldcoet ter suffering a nervous breakdown and 14 year old Gladice Heacock who disappeared for the second time. Others named are Ernest Hartman 12 John Meyers 23 and Thomas Youngblood 27. Projection notes a separate Evansville population protest with 104000 claimed versus 98100 estimate.

In Brooklyn at dawn three shots shattered the quiet as Michael Abbatemarco, an alleged racketeer and ally of "Little Augie" Pisano, was found slain at the wheel of his car. Patrolman Ferrente led the response and a youth witness was detained for questioning about the shooting.
