Gang of auto thieves ambush ends in Cox death near Hartford City
In Indiana police hunted Albert Nickerson 23, described as gang leader, and another member after an ambush at an abandoned Hartford City store. Angus Cox 20 was killed while attempting to arrange a meeting with Nickerson’s 16 year old sweetheart. The girl’s mother intercepted a note, and officers waited five hours before opening fire as the men fled. Cox’s body was dumped at Marion hospital by two fleeing men.
