United States weather bureau meteorologist J H Armington warned of a cold wave sweeping Indiana and the Midwest before Friday night. Snow flurries tonight or Friday will drop temperatures to 15 to 20 degrees with a rapid fall and brief stay of the chill. Northern Indiana may run slightly cooler but the cold is expected to last only one to two days.
Bernard Harrington, 29, of 1848 North Pennsylvania Street, was sentenced to sixty days on the state penal farm and fined $100 for contempt of court after allegedly striking Miss Josephine Sheridan, 438 East Market Street, and threatening to kill her in Judge Paul Wetter's courtroom. Harrington's attorney Pete Concillo was rebuked for alleged promises to "fix up" Harrington's absence. The assault charge had been continued.
Butler University sent a telegram protesting its expulsion from the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Signed by Hilton A. Brown president of the board of directors, it seeks probationary latitude pending further investigation and notes trustees were not interviewed nor was the main city office contacted for facts.
Henry G. Dammeyer, secretary treasurer of Dammeyer Realty, won Liberty magazine’s $5,000 first prize in the Patriotic Game of Presidents. He is 62, of 1453 East Washington Street, married with two children, New York report. The aristocratic Schwab chateau on the Hudson may be razed for an apartment project as land leasing negotiations proceed.
Nettie Hayes 43 and two men, Ray Ruddell and Wallace Preston, are jailed on auto banditry and conspiracy charges after Hayes admits planning the $5,000 kidnapping and holdup to frame her sweetheart William Gerard. Joseph A. Price, a grocer, is jailed as an accessory for hiding $800 of Preston's loot.
Mrs Rebecca Gross aged 103 collapses and dies before aid arrives in New York Police report she came to the United States at 70 to start life anew and leaves seventy five descendants.
The public service commission and utilities show a growing gap in valuation for the $70 million Insull utilities merger. Commission expert Roy Hasselman reduced Central Indiana and T.H.I&E figures by 1.43 million, widening the spread toward about 30 million. The case moves to briefs and a possible dismissal ruling by commissioners.
A drinking party near Eagle Creek led to a thirty foot embankment plunge killing Powpeii Loft alias Williams 23 of Rushville Ga and Oscar Guy Thompson 29 of 1249 Kentucky avenue and injuring Ada Davenport 25 of 2402 West Bay street. Police ruled out a third victim after recovering bodies and interviewing witnesses. Davenport, jailed for drunkenness, reported temporary paralysis during questioning.
In Menominee Michigan Mrs Charles Baldwin guided officers to Grace Polans home and found her husband washing dishes surprising the wife who said she expected his return but not such domestic work. she noted he never helped with chores in their marriage.
Prosecutor Judson L. Stark announced charges of death threats to witnesses against Alexander Geisking, 27, tied to a Delicatessen holdup with $175 stolen. Geisking, held on $10,000 bond, faced extradition attempts from Michigan while linked to the fatal liquor battle involving Charles Reuter.
Dr James Shannon Buchanan aged 65 vice president of Oklahoma university and longtime educator died at his Norman home from heart disease after months of ill health. He is survived by his widow.

James Britt, an East Chicago man convicted of murdering Sam Goldberg in Chicago, faced execution at Michigan City’s electric chair as Governor Leslie, away yachting, could not confirm a last minute commutation. Morton's reports indicated Britt would die before sunrise unless the governor acted, with the condemned man opting for fried chicken as his last supper.
