Cuban killer escapes Pottsville jail during escape attempt
Elzear Miguel a Cuban man sentenced to death for killing Louise Jacks in Pottsville escaped from the Pottsville jail at 4 40 a m after shooting guard Roy Green in the leg. Police say Miguel, son of a wealthy Cuban sugar planter, forced Green to unlock the cell then ordered him to the jail office. Green tried to seize the prisoner and was shot.
