Vermont Governor Weeks Visits Indianapolis on April 21

Governor John E Weeks will make a brief Indianapolis stop on Thursday April 21 as newly elected Vermont chief executive. A 125 member party will travel in seven passenger cars while four cars showcase Vermont industry and agriculture. Weeks will be accompanied by Mrs Weeks and civic, industrial leaders and Vermont mayors. He then heads to the Midwest and eastern Canada.

Stolen Car Dragged From Canal Near Udell Street

Police suspected a vehicle dragged from the canal at Udell Street was driven in by thieves. The car had been stolen after midnight from Ed Rosenberg of 4451 Broadway, raising fears of a body inside before the car was confirmed abandoned.

City repairs streets as ten gangs work downtown

City engineer Chester C. Oberleas reports ten gangs patching streets in the downtown area. Main streets should be in pretty good shape by June 1 and the downtown section in good shape in a few weeks. He says paved streets are in worse condition than in years and all available men are assigned to the year’s work to improve them.

Postal receipts rise in Indianapolis for last month
