Lieutenant Elinar Lundborg reports Italia ice camp off Foyn Island at risk as the runway and camp split and ice drifts southeastward. He urges rapid air rescue by Swedish planes aboard the Quest before disaster.
News from Rome reports the Italia crew and Lt Einer-Paul Lundberg are on drifting ice about ten miles north of Cape Leigh Smith and 80.20 N 28.21 E. In Tromsoe Amundsen’s search party appears to have failed with no trace found and continued recon flights planned from Bear Island to locate the Arctic explorer and companions.
G M Williams Marmon Motor Car Company president announced that radio fans unable to attend the reception can listen in Saturday at noon. Kruse Connell radio supply house will install a microphone in the timers' tent at the Speedway to broadcast the fliers arrival and describe the planes over Station WFBM.
Lieut. Mat G. Carpenter of the Indiana National Guard and Sergt. L M Johnson of the U S Army escaped with only a shake when their two seater was forced to land in a two acre field beside a cemetery near Wilmington Ohio due to rain. They were en route from Norton Field Columbus to Dayton. Also in Moscow the Communist Party reinstated Zinovieff Kemeneff and thirty six other opposition leaders to attend the July Communist congress.
United Press reports Houston on June 29 showing initial roll totals for Democratic candidates with Smith leading at 724 2 3 and Hull next at 715 6, followed by George and Reed. Final official counts after state changes show Smith at 849 2 3 and George at 5246 with Bilbo receiving 1 as nomination threshold stands at 733 1 3.
Crimin al Court records a major raid on Mastin Printing Company at 166 W Pratt St after grand jury indicts Otis I Mastin for operating a lottery. Officers seized two truckloads of baseball pool tickets. Also a raid at 1801 W Tenth St netted William Elliott and Andrew Gaddy on gaming charges.
Chicago June 29 One man is jailed on murder charges as police continue to hunt ten more suspects in the Tuesday night assassination of labor leader Big Tim Murphy. John Hand denies involvement while detectives say evidence supports indictments. Frank Noonan and James Forsyth, linked to a racketeer ring controlling the cleaning and dyeing trade, will be booked for murder when arrested.
Police Chief Claude M. Worley urged renewed action against gas hawk abductions and said he would join investigations. Miss Ruth Jines 17 was chased by a man in a car eight blocks until she collapsed at patrolmen’s feet at Illinois and Washington Streets. Officers took her home after failing to obtain the license number.
John O Collins 51 of 422 Irving Pl took poison after health and financial worries. He summoned his wife to the bedroom and died shortly after. He worked twelve years at Marmon Motor Car Company and resigned as foreman six months ago due to ill health. He is survived by a son Claude and his widow.
Vienna reports American actor Leo Dietrichstein died of heart disease at Auersperg Sanitarium last night at age 66. The body will be cremated Saturday.
Senator Jim Reed from Missouri delivered a long speech at the Democratic convention after losing to Al Smith on the first ballot. He pledged to fight in Smith's trenches to November and denounced Herbert Hoover as the greatest menace of his lifetime while urging Democrats to unite for the general election.
George Adams reports a prowler at 310 N Hamilton Ave for several nights. On Thursday the intruder tore a screen from the rear porch and entered, then set fire to the house just before midnight. Battalion Chief Roscoe McKinney notified police after finding the torn screen and a back gate propped open. Damage was slight.

Representatives of several railroads met with Secretary Hoover to arrange special facilities and service for his Pacific coast route via Blue, Wisconsin around July 12. A special train will pass through outskirts of Chicago and other cities, with Hoover likely traveling in a private car offered by rail executives.
In Atham Massachusetts a collision between the Grecian of the Merchants and Miners Transportation Company and the Dorchester of the Baltimore & Chesapeake Railroad Company left the Grecian beached southwest of Old Monomoy. Divers and salvage gear were rushed from Boston to assist. The Dorchester was unharmed and remained on scene until early morning after checks showed no danger to crew.
A burglar crawled into Patrolman William Cravens’s bedroom on Storm Avenue while he slept and stole $8.45, a purse, and a check book. The thief left the check book and purse in the yard. A similar burglary occurred at James Miller’s home on Bell Street, yielding about $30.
Inclement weather forces postponement of the Garfield and Surrounding Civic League meeting at the Garfield shelter house until the next league session on July 26. The south side track elevation campaign is delayed.
