Mexican Pact Celebrated by Catholics in Mexico City
Devout Mexican Catholics spent the first Sunday since the settlement of the religious dispute in thanksgiving. Long pilgrimages to the Santa Maria Church of Guadalupe filled the week end with prayers, flowers, and candles. Crowds packed the church, police maintained order, and no disorders occurred as the nation braces for a priestly restoration and reopening of thousands of churches. A separate report notes Mrs. Russell eines of Elkhart, Indiana, escaped with injuries after her car was struck by a freight train.
