Ford hailed as savior of modern China
Henry Ford and other mass producers may become saviors for China amid its gravest crisis. Civil war rages north of Nanking and famine kills about 200,000 monthly in Shensi while bandits roam. Chinese unity fails due to poor communications with only 7,500 miles of rail and scant highways. Ford and American manufacturers pledge to open the Chinese market and a good roads drive aims to raise 10 million dollars to build roads into famine areas.
