Merchants Block No Turn Plan For Washington Street
The Merchants Association blocked the plan of the board of safety to ban right and left turns on Washington Street between Delaware and Capitol Avenues. A city wide traffic committee will study relief efforts at 2 p.m. next Tuesday at city hall. The merchants urged broader study with Chamber of Commerce, Board of Trade, civic clubs, and motor club representation to protect their interests. They warn turning restrictions could confuse visitors and taxi routes to hotels from Union Station. The safety board president said the issue cannot be endlessly deferred. A Times Special item from Eensburg notes Mrs. J Brent Patton of Eensburg is Herbert C Hoover’s fourth cousin.
