The Italia crew splits into three groups, with three men missing and others in danger from insufficient food and clothing. Rescue teams including air units, ice breakers, and dog teams race from Kings Bay amid uncertain radio messages and shifting ice conditions northeast of Spitzbergen.
Radio operator Guiseppe Biagi reported the Italia crew divided into three ice bound groups drifting toward open water. The largest group totals seven men including General Umberto Nobile and two injured. one man broke a leg during landing. A second group of six was eighteen and three fourths miles east. A third group of three, lacking food or clothing, had not reached Nobile and was missing.
Judge James A. Collins overruled abatement pleas of four ex-officials of the defunct J. F. Wild & Co. State Bank who face indictment on bank embezzling charges. He sustained the States demurrer to the abatement pleas and set arguments on July 6. The defendants named are John F Wild Otto P Kern John Craig Fisher and William F McNairy.
The Government Gazette published an appellate court request for Carol Karaiman to appear June 21 at 1 p.m. to defend his divorce suit. If he fails to appear, a decision will be made in his absence. Also noted death of Vigo Superior Court Judge William T. Gleason in Terre Haute.
A Ford roadster driven by Charles Binford 17 crashed into a truck at Fifty-Eighth Street and Central Avenue. Porter Davis 18 and Meredith O Harra 18 were killed. Binford faces manslaughter charges as Weller 18 sustained serious injuries. Other occupants included Robert Blackburn 17 and Jack Matthews 16. O Harra and Davis were Tech High graduates with ties to Butler University and Roberts Park M. BLA.
The school board today approved a list of teacher assignments for the next school year submitted by Superintendent Charles F. Miller. The list includes grade and high school teachers grade school principals and special teachers and appears on Page 10 EF Church and the Young Men's Sunday School class. Funeral services will be private at the home Wednesday 3 pm with Rev. Edwin W. Dunlevy officiating. Davis had been active in Technical athletics and belonged to Chi Sigma Chi Fraternity and the debating club. He graduated at 15.
Mexico City June 11 Capt Emilio Carranza known as Mexico’s Lindbergh started a nonstop flight from Vallbuena field to Washington at 9 10 am to mirror Lindberghs return trip. The heavily fueled plane required a specially built 3 1/8 mile runway and carried 326 gallons of gasoline. He planned a twenty hour crossing and was aided by funds from Lindbergh.

Prince Felix Youssoupoff of Russia, once commander-in-chief and aide to Czar Nicholas II, died in Rome at age 71. The former royal military figure passed away on June 11, with reports noting his long service and prominent status in imperial circles.
Frances O Neal two year old daughter of Herman and Mrs O Neal at 883 North Illinois Street found red tablets on a table Sunday. She swallowed them and was rushed to City Hospital. Doctors said she was not in danger and relieved the pain, noting she mistook poison tablets for red peppermint drops.
Berlin reports President Hin denberg will accept the cabinet's resignation on Tuesday and invite Herman Muelleer, Socialist leader, to form a new government representative of his party's strength.
In Estwood New Jersey on June 11 justice E Allen Meyer who enforced blue laws arrested for violating them while preparing to open a new movie house. He paid a 16 dollar fine and then arrested others and halted a wedding party and ice cream truck before being jailed for obstructing traffic.
