Airmens Twenty Four Hours Ahead On Date Line Flight
The Southern Cross crew flying to Australia crossed the 180th meridian near Suva and would land in Honolulu a day earlier when traveling westward. If a plane returns eastward crossing the date line, the date would drop a day. A 35 hour westward crossing would yield arrival about eleven hours after departure due to calendar shifts.
