Indianapolis Plans Wide Streets To Absorb City Growth
Louis W. Bruck, consulting engineer for the city plan commission, predicts Indianapolis with 700000 population will develop a ninety foot wide street grid and horizontal expansion of the business district over twenty five years. The plan favors limiting building heights to avoid subways or elevated railroads and keeps street car and bus lines on separate rights of way. Council will hear more details June 11 and take action June 15 with further briefings to the Chamber of Commerce civil affairs committee.
