The Sperry beacon will rise seventy feet above a thirty nine story tower and be dedicated in August. The light, using 300 million candle power incandescents, can be seen about 500 miles away under favorable conditions. Two lightkeepers will guard it continuously during operation. The ceremony is expected to draw hundreds of notable attendees.
