Wives and daughters study fashion books as August fur sales loom across the country. Indianapolis stores display ermines caraculs Hudson seals and minks in bold coats wraps and capes with rich linings high collars and flared skirts. Names and addresses of local wearers and shops appear with vivid fur details.
President Harding told a Vancouver audience that shared North American ideals prevent conflict and promote enduring peace. He praised mutual credit, citizen exchange, and two nations living independently yet interdependently as a model for the world.
Paris reports an accord among France Belgium and Italy on replies to Britain's reparations note to Germany. Premier Poincare plans a few days rest as separate replies from France and Belgium are anticipated.

Seven of forty one escapees from the Illinois State hospital for the criminal insane remain at large after overpowering guards. One man is held at Bush and may be Dirk Umona of Chicago, believed to be among the escapees.
Oregon Senator Charles L. McNary plans to urge President Harding to call a special session to set a $1.75 per bushel minimum for 1923 wheat. He will meet Harding during the presidential trip from Oregon toward California to discuss the proposal.
A. L. Schneider was expelled from the curb exchange at the regular governors meeting. He was charged with violating article XV-11, section 6 of the Constitution.

Mr and Mrs Pharley Crowder of 2145 Adams St were killed at 10 am when their car was struck by a Vandalia passenger train at Leesville ten miles west of Greencastle. Crowder worked for Ayres & Co. The couple were on their honeymoon after visiting Paris. A dispatch notes the car stalled after entering the track. A Minneapolis dispatch reports a receivership petition for the Minneapolis and St Louis Railway in Federal Court.
